George Charles Suse

George C. Suse, 74, of Longmeadow, passed away peacefully and comfortably on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on January 20, 1943, a beloved twin son of Peter & Adelle (George) Suse in Pittsburgh, PA. He was raised and educated in Springfield, before becoming a longtime resident of Longmeadow. George served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he started a long career with the Springfield Police Department in 1968, as an Auxiliary Police Officer. He then attended and graduated from the Springfield Police Academy on March 12, 1975 and continued serving the City of Springfield for 19yrs., as an Auxiliary Police Officer, later becoming an Auxiliary Sergeant Assistant to Sgt. Suares. He continued his career as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Agawam Police Department for an additional 16yrs, before retiring in 2008. Upon retiring from the Agawam Police Department, he worked at the Springfield Police Department Lock-up. During his career in Law Enforcement, he was a seasonal Police Officer at the Big E, for over 20yrs with the City of West Springfield. George was a 30yr member of the MA Police Officers Association and an Honorary Member of the Springfield Lodge of Elks #61. George was predeceased by his parents Peter and Adelle (George) Suse; and his younger brother, Raymond Suse of MA. He leaves behind his lifelong friend and mother of his only child, Constance Stokosa of MA; his loving daughter, Shannon Abate and her husband Christopher of CT; his Fraternal Twin Brother & Caregiver, Joseph C. Suse of Longmeadow; and his two adored grandchildren, Chelsi, Kai and a great grandson, Ashton all of CT. George also leaves behind two nephews, Austin of AZ and Mario of FL. In addition, to all who have had the pleasure to know him in life, he will be especially missed by his lifetime friends, Anthony Maloni, Anthony Afunasiew and Al Vantangoli all of MA. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, September 2, for a period of visitation from 9-10 a.m. at Hafey Funeral Home, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield, followed by a service celebrating George’s Life at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow immediately after the service at Longmeadow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name may be made to Kai Abate Scholarship Fund, make check’s payable to Kai Abate, 94 Farmington Ave., Plainville, CT 06062.
