Antigoni (Vivropoulou) Panidis, 91, passed away September 11, 2021 surrounded by her loving children. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Konstantinos Panidis on August 26, 2021. Antigoni was of Greek heritage, born December 15, 1929 in Crimea, Russia to Konstantinos & Eleni Vivropoulos. She along with her husband and children immigrated to the United States from Greece in 1965 and has resided in Springfield ever since. Antigoni worked as a seamstress for the Kinsler Coat Company until her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Springfield MA, Greek Orthodox Ladies’ Philoptochos Society of St George and The Daughters of Penelope. Antigoni or Yiayia as everyone called her was completely devoted to her family. She was the matriarch of the family and only wanted the best for them. She gave so much and asked for nothing in return. Her family was truly blessed to have had such a beautiful woman to call Mom and Yiayia. She touched the lives of so many with her unconditional love, kindness and generosity. Yiayia’s home provided comfort, support and warmth to all who entered. She will truly be missed by many hearts. Antigoni is survived by her children Eleni Montero and her husband Carlos, Nicholas Panidis, and Hope Beach and her husband Jim. She was a loving Yiayia to Charlie Panidis, David Panidis, Maggie Montero, Antigone Panidis, Antigoni Proctor, Phillip Panidis, Joseph Montero, Niko Beach, Dimitri Beach and Ava Beach; great grandchildren, Khayla Lorenzana, Joshua Panidis, Anthony Wilson, Charlie Panidis Jr., Eleni Montero, Charlie Proctor VI, Theodore Proctor, Joseph Montero Jr., Wyatt Proctor, Dallas Panidis, Calitza Panidis and Avery Flores. Antigoni in addition to her parents was predeceased by her beloved siblings, Nikolaos Vivropoulos, Sofia Pavlidou, Despina Kritidou and Paraskevoula Triantafilidou all from Greece. She is survived by her beloved brother Vassilis Vivropoulos and his wife Roula and many extended family members all in Greece. She also leaves a community of dear friends that were considered family. Family and friends are invited to meet directly on Monday, September 20 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Rd. Springfield, MA for Antigoni’s funeral service. She will lie in state at the Cathedral from 10 -11 a.m. with a service in the Cathedral at 11 a.m. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield.
