On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Antonia (Gonzalez) Perez, loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at her home in Springfield at the age of 69. Born on June 25, 1950, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, to Gregorio and Zoila (Dones) Gonzalez, she was a longtime resident of Springfield. Antonia was known as a hard worker, she worked up until she cared for her mother. She was also a caregiver for her brother, Gregorio. In her personal time, she enjoyed sitting on the deck, enjoying the sun and also enjoyed cooking for her loved ones. She leaves behind her loving children, David Perez of Springfield, Margarita Pagan and her husband, Luis of Orlando, FL, and Yolanda Espinosa and her husband, Juan of Springfield; siblings, Margarita Martinez of Orlando, FL, Amparo Colon of Ludlow, Juan Luis Gonzalez of Springfield, and Jimmy Gonzalez of Springfield; seven cherished grandchildren, Ellissette Marquez, Gabriela Espinosa, Alejandro Espinosa, Isabela Espinosa, Sofia Espinosa, Julian Espinosa, and Amaya Perez, and two great grandchildren, Janiyah Orellano and Elisabeth Solano. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Gregorio Gonzalez and sister, Carmen Berrios. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, June 23, for calling hours for Antonia from 4 – 8 PM, at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 24, beginning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield. Entombment will follow immediately after the Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. In lieu of flowers, donations in Antonia’s name may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 31 Capital Drive, West Springfield, MA 01089.
