On Sunday, April 5, 2020 Barbara W. Bennett, loving wife and mother of two sons, passed away at the age of 82. Born in Springfield to Louis and Annabelle Williamson, Barbara was a long time resident Of Hampden, where she and her husband of almost 62 years, John, lived for over 50 years. Barbara had many hobbies and interests which included book clubs, bowling, rooting on her Mets, and mahjong. Besides her family, the things she loved the most were travel and music. Barbara spent her life making beautiful music with both instruments and her voice. She played the violin, piano, organ, and had a beautiful alto voice, and was Choir Director and Organist at both Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church and The Federated Church of Hampden for decades. Barbara spent most of her adult life in the travel business where she met some of her best, lifelong friends. Travel was another great joy in Barbara’s life, with her trips to Paris, cruising and all the time she spent enjoying the beach on LBI, and visiting “Old Barney” as some of her favorites. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Annabelle Williamson, and leaves behind her loving, devoted husband of almost 62 years, John K of Hampden, her 2 beloved sons, John and his wife Sandra of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Jeff and his wife Carly of Springfield. Barbara also leaves behind her 3 beautiful and loved grandchildren, Andrew, Violetta, and Madelyn. She also leaves behind many dear, close friends who were like family to her.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the family has decided to hold off on any memorial service until such time as everyone can gather together to celebrate Barbara’s life. www.hafeyfuneralservice.com
