Chicopee – Bertila Camacho, 79, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Friday November 15, 2019 at Wingate at West Springfield. She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and lived in the Bronx, New York for many years where she worked in a New York School. Bertila later lived in both Springfield and most recently in Chicopee, working at the Ring Nursing Homes. Bertila is remembered as a very doting, warm, affectionate, religious and spiritual person. She had a kind heart and will be dearly missed by her loving children, Evelyn Vera of Springfield, Naomi Colon of Chicopee, Peter Vera and his wife Ann of Chicopee and David Rivera and his wife Marisol of Springfield; sister’s, Hilda Camacho, Sol Camacho, Naomi Camacho, Margie, Rosa, and Yvette Camacho, and by her brother, Bravilo Camacho; five grandchildren, Raymond Fields, Leann Vera, Cristina Green, Jeffery Columbus and Isabella Rivera and five great-grandchildren, Raylynn Kavila, Joseph Kavila, Mykella Meadows, King Meadows and Maya Jones; She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Petronio Vera Ortiz and brother, Hilton Vega.
Family and friends gathered for calling hours on Thursday November 21st, 2019 from 6–9 PM to celebrate her life with prayer and reflection at the Hafey Funeral Home, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield. Bertila’s funeral service will be held on Friday November 22nd at 10 AM at the Hafey Funeral Home followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield. www.hafeyfuneralservice.com
