Blair Lane Perry

Blair Lane Perry, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born on October 2, 1929 in Newton, MA, a beloved son of Elwyn L. and Ruth (Kelly) Perry, he was a longtime Boston resident, a former resident of Florida and later Barnstable, MA, before returning to Western, MA. Blair was a graduate of Deerfield Academy and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., serving with the legal office of the Second Marine Air Wing from 1951-1953. After his service, he attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 1957 with honors. He worked at the law firm of Hale and Dorr for 35 years, becoming a Senior Partner in 1968 and helping to found the firm’s thriving Intellectual Property division. A story on the circumstances of his departure from Hale and Dorr made the front page of the New York Times on December 24, 1990. He continued his practice of law, working with the firm of Fish & Richardson for ten years. Blair leaves behind his two loving children, Jennifer Gibson of Billerica, MA and Andrew Perry of Longmeadow; and by his cherished grandchildren, Rachel and George Perry of Longmeadow and Amy and Matthew Gibson of Billerica. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Perry and sister, Joan Perry. A private funeral service for Blair will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
