Holyoke – Brenda Lee (Silva) Reed, 49, passed away Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by her loving family who never left her side. She was born in Hartford, CT to the late Alberto Rivera Silva (2014) and Nancy Stella-Silva (2018). She was a 1988 graduate of Holyoke High School. Brenda was employed as a Bank Teller at TD Bank in Northampton for many years. She was a wonderful cook, and most especially for her infamous Spanish rice, but most of all she loved watching her children play sports, sing and perform. Her time was always spent with her family and many friends and she especially loved her granddaughter, Ava. When you ask anyone who knew Brenda, they will tell you, “she had the best smile”; “she was a great friend”; “she was a devoted wife and mother”. There was so much more to Brenda than you could ever know! If you weren’t blessed enough to be around Brenda and her family, then you missed out on the true meaning of love. You were immediately part of the family. Brenda had a way of embracing you exactly as you were. She would open her home and her heart to everyone. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and everyone loved being around her. Brenda was known for not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. But that didn’t make her a bad person, it made her the best, most genuine friend you could ever have. She never let her health hinder her from having fun or spending time with her friends. She was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love. She leaves her loving and devoted husband of 29 years, Jeffery W. Reed of Holyoke, her two sons, whom she adored, Aaron Reed and his partner, Keishla Marrero, and Nathan Reed; her brother, Albert Silva and granddaughter, Ava Reed, all of Holyoke and many dear friends over the years who meant so much to her. Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Monday September 9th from 5 – 7 PM at the Hafey Funeral Home, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield with a 7:00 PM Celebration of Life Service to follow. Memorial donations may be made in Brenda’s memory to the Mercy Medical Center, Attn: Sister Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
