Brian A. Cross, 33, of Springfield, MA, passed away August 13th 2020, at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Born on August 29, 1986, in Springfield, MA. He attended the High school of Commerce, to then enlist in the Army National Guard from May 12, 2004 till May 11th 2012. Brian was an Infantryman with Company A, 1st Battalion 181st Infantry. Serving 2 tours, Kosovo part of Task Force Red Dragon and Afghanistan part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Awarded a Combat Infantry Badge as well as many other commendations. Brian later came home to work at Jiffy Lube and then Smith & Wesson as a machine operator. Brian loved movies, sports, hiking, fishing and anything to do with outside. He was predeceased by his sister Sandy Zalewski, Grandfather, Ted Elliott and Uncle John Foley (Sonny). He leaves behind his mother, Cheryl Miller, father James Zalewski (Jimmy); sister, Ashley Miller brothers Michael Cross and Matthew Cross; sister-in-law Amanda Lalu; nephews Nouri Cross and Omari Cross; grandmother, Carrol Stone (Nana). Also many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, Godchildren and close friends. Calling hours for Brian will be held on Wednesday August 19th 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hafey Funeral Home, 494 Belmont Ave. Springfield, MA 01108. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, August 20th beginning at 9:45 a.m., followed by committal prayers with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
