On Monday, May 25, 2020, Carlos Alfredo Lopez, beloved husband of Blanca Elena (Ocampo Santana) Lopez, who predeceased him, passed away at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield at the age of 78. Born on May 21, 1942, in San Salvador, El Salvador, a son of Carlos A. and Maria E. (Romero) Lopez, he was raised and educated in El Salvador, before emigrating to the United States in 1985. Carlos settled in Springfield along with his family. He enrolled in courses to learn how to speak English at Springfield Technical Community College with the assistance of then bilingual director and now good family friend, Betty Szlajen. Carlos worked several jobs, including construction with Thomas Wilson of East Longmeadow, but his real passion was cars, and eventually became at a longtime sales associate at Balise Toyota in West Springfield. Carlos leaves behind his three loving children, Jaime A. Lopez of Wilbraham, Juan C. Lopez of Berwick, PA, and Karen Lopez of Springfield; brother, Nelson, and sisters, Milagros, Aida, Roxana, Patricia, and Vilma all of El Salvador; six cherished grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and loving wife, he was also predeceased by his brother, Saul Lopez. A private service will be held for Carlos. There are no calling hours.
