Christine M. Riopelle, 55, also known as “Chrissie from the Keys”, of Springfield passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was born in Holyoke, MA, a daughter of the late Dorothy (Fitzgibbon) Lafreniere and George W. Riopelle. She grew up in Springfield MA, and attended Springfield schools. Christine enjoyed some of her best years in Marathon Florida with the American Legion, auxiliary unit 154, where she bartended and sang karaoke. Christine loved to watch the sunset. Christine is survived by her son, Michael G. Riopelle of Feeding Hills and her granddaughter Lyndsey Alise Riopelle of Indian Orchard. She is also survived by her brother, David Riopelle of Springfield; her sister Doreen D ’Amours and nephew, Brandon Beaulieu both of Feeding Hills. In addition to her parents, she was also pre-deceased by a brother, Daniel Riopelle, formally from West Springfield. Christine will be missed by many friends and family. Calling hours for Christine will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hafey funeral home, 494 Belmont Avenue, Springfield, MA 01108, followed by a funeral home service at 11 a.m. Her burial will be private.
