David Adam Fontaine, 54, of Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 at his home. He was born in Holyoke, MA, in 1966 to Doreen (Brill) and George Fontaine. He lived at his current home since 1979. David was a student with the Lower Pioneer Valley Collaborative and graduated in 1988. He then attended Sunshine Village until this year. Sunshine Village gave David the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including art projects, music, and yoga. Through his time connected with the Pathlight Group and its predecessors, David enjoyed not only a beautiful loving home but also many trips to local and regional attractions. His favorites were the New England area zoos and Lake Sunapee. David also participated in the Special Olympics. David will be remembered for his rambling strolls, positive attitude, and love of good food, especially chocolate and fig newtons. David was predeceased by his parents. Many people will cherish his memory including his siblings: sister Doreen Neale and her husband Adam, brother Noiel and his wife Laura, brother Matthew and his wife Susie, and brother George and his wife Lissa. David also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including a great-nephew. The family would like to thank Baystate Medical Center, Baystate Hospice Care, and Sunshine Village for the exceptional care David received during his lifetime. Special gratitude is extended to the past and present Pathlight Group staff at Plumtree Rd. They created a wonderful home for David the past 41 years filled with lots of love and care.
