David L Rogers, 75, beloved husband of Marie Elva (Peterson) Rogers who predeceased him in 2017, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Genesis Healthcare Westfield Center in Westfield, MA.
Born in Springfield, MA, on June 28, 1944, a beloved son of Norman and Eva (Tardy) Rogers.
David served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Apprentice. He was a long time employee of 30+ years at Titeflex in Springfield as well.
David leaves behind his loving children, Jeannette Smith and her husband James of Ludlow, Robert Rogers and his fiancée Letticea of North Carolina, Michael Rogers and his wife Carolyn of Colorado Springs, CO, and David M Rogers of Fall River, MA; seven cherished grandchildren-Audra, Amelia, Renee’, Jayson, Jayannah, Nayshawn, and Damian; and by several nieces and nephews and loved ones.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Rogers and sister, Patricia Caloon. He is survived by 4 brothers, Gerald Rogers, Gary Rogers, Dennis Rogers, and Kevin Rogers.
David was the first in the family to accept the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior, which in turn began the rest of the family attending church at an early age. His sister Pat and brother Gerald shared the Gospel with him and are the reason that many family members know the Lord personally as their Savior. All of us are eternally grateful for their boldness to share the Gospel!
David will always be remembered by his loved ones for his “famous homemade meatball grinders” to enjoy particularly during football games. He loved to throw family picnics and try to get the family together over some intense badminton games! He enjoyed painting and household projects. Enjoyed long car rides to find new places to visit along the way. His most favorite thing he enjoyed was watching movies with a large cup of coffee.
Dad, David, Uncle Dave, Pepe’ you will be greatly missed and never forgotten! Until we see you and mom in Glory. “We all love you very much!”
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 6, at 3 PM for David’s committal service, followed by military honors in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA. There are no calling hours. www.hafeyfuneralservice.com
