Edmund Joseph Domagala

November 17, 1922 ~ December 9, 2018 (age 96)

Edmund Domagala, 96, of Bremen St. Springfield, died peacefully at home on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Born in Poznan, Poland, November 17, 1922, he was the son of the late Jozef and Pelagia Domagala. During the German occupation of Poland, he was an active member of Polish underground organizations. Arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Dachau and later Mathausen concentration camps. After liberation, he joined the American Occupation Security Units in Germany. In 1950, he came to the United States of America and settled in Springfield. He worked in the A & P Warehouse and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 404. He later retired as a machinist from Storms Forge in Springfield. Mr. Domagala was a longtime parishioner Our Lady of The Rosary Church in Springfield. He loved being outdoors, whether it was working in the yard or bird watching. Edmund is survived by his devoted wife, Alina (Arabik) Domagala of Springfield; loving daughter, Donna and her husband, Jason Scally of Walpole, MA; and by two cherished grandchildren, Patrick and Milo. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 12, for a period of visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Ave., followed by a service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee.
