Edward Richard Stanwood Shaw, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in East Longmeadow, MA, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, with his loving family at his side. Born on February 7, 1936, in Springfield, MA, son of Burpee W. and Dorothy G. (Norton) Shaw, Ed was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. He was a longtime resident of Springfield before residing in East Longmeadow for more than 40 years. Ed held MBA and Mechanical Engineering degrees from Western New England College and had a long career as a professional engineer designing industrial machinery. He loved fixing most anything, especially cars. He enjoyed music and playing his saxophone, bowling and trips to Bermuda. He also was known for his intelligence and quick wit. He leaves behind his wife Janice, 2 daughters: Dawn Shaw and husband David Markman of Wilbraham, and Laurie and husband Jose Bonano of Springfield, as well as 3 sons: Thomas and wife Mary Shaw of Holland, Michael and wife Karlene Shaw of East Longmeadow, and Bill Shaw and wife Carla Wahnon of Cambridge. He also leaves his brother David and wife Sue. He was predeceased by his sisters Marilyn Gerling and Sandra Tyler. Ed further leaves his 9 grandchildren: Richard and wife Maggie (and great-grandchild Samantha) Minerich, Rachel and Eileen Shaw, Lesley and husband Michael Cournoyer, Christopher and Joe Bonano, Laurie and wife Cyrene Bonano-Blanchard and Phillip and Lauren Shaw. The family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of their choice in his memory.
