Elaine Janice (Putnam) Putnam, beloved wife of Clinton A. Putnam, Sr., whom she married on April 15, 1953 and who predeceased her on April 21, 2015, went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 5, 2021. Elaine was born on April 25, 1934, in Sheldon Springs, VT, a daughter of Earl and Glenna (Clapper) Putnam. She lived most of her life in Southbridge and Springfield, MA. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Elaine was a nurse’s assistant for many years at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge and worked many part-time jobs throughout her life. In her spare time Elaine loved crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She was also known for her beautiful knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She leaves behind her loving children, Gloria (Ron) Gregoire, Jennifer (Charlie) Cozzens, Clinton Jr. (Jennifer) Putnam, Henry (Lori) Putnam, and Tracy (Ed) Moran, sister, Joan Sweet, nine cherished grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, David and daughter, JoAnn Putnam, siblings, Earl Putnam, Jr., Ruth King, Audrey Gillian, and Betty Putnam. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, April 9, for a period of visitation for Elaine from 11AM to 12 noon at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue, Springfield, MA. Her committal service and burial will follow immediately after the visitation at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.
