Elaine G. (Messier) Houser, 93, beloved wife of Edwin B. Houser, who predeceased her in 1992, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, in the comfort of her own home in Springfield. Elaine was born on August 17, 1926, in Springfield, MA, a daughter of Leo and Gertrude (Mathias) Messier. She was raised and educated in Springfield and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Elaine worked as a security guard for over 20 years at the Walter Smith Fine Arts Museum in Springfield. She was an active and longtime parishioner at Holy Cross Church in Springfield. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler with the Holy Name Church Bowling League and enjoyed finishing and painting ceramics. Elaine was a very loving and giving person who was blessed with a great sense of humor. She was a faithful and dedicated fan of Elvis. Elaine leaves behind her loving children, Mark A. Houser and his wife Carleen, of Springhill, FL, Donna M. Houser and her companion, Randal, of Agawam, and Deborah J. Roy and her husband, Charles, of Monson; 8 cherished grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Messier and sister, Adele Coughlin. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, December 7, for a period of visitation for Elaine, from 9-10 a.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Ave., followed by service celebrating here life at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Committal prayers and entombment will follow immediately after the service at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in Springfield.
