Francis “Hank” E. Devine, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2020, at the age of 87.
He was born in Springfield, MA, in 1933, the son of Mary Rochford and Raymond Devine.
He resided in Springfield most of his life, until moving to Agawam, 20 years ago.
Hank served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War.
He was a teamster for many years and then a courier for the City of Springfield.
Hank was a very kind and generous man, always first to volunteer to help someone in need.
In his thirties, he took up running and was soon doing races and marathons.
He ran the Boston marathon 5 times and did at least 3 other marathons.
When he stopped running, he took up swimming and was still doing a mile a day, 4 times a week, at 87.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia, and his son, Paul.
He leaves his wife, Terry of Agawam, his son, Kevin and wife Bentley of Las Vegas, NV, Terry’s children, Susan and Art Zukowski, of West Springfield, Mary Vitro of Springfield, Tom and Linda Vitro of Santa Fe, NM, Vincent and Sharon Vitro of Los Angeles, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Hank will be private.
