Gordon was born and raised in Montreal Canada until he was 14 years old. The family immigrated from Canada to the USA in 1968. After a long struggle with COPD and heart failure, Gordy passed peacefully in his sleep, waking on August 10, 2021 towards his new journey.
Gordon served in the US Marine Corp as a Canadian citizen during the Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina for 4 years. Upon returning to W. Springfield after his tour of duty, he trained to become a Precision Engineer by trade. Later, he found construction more to his liking, started his own construction business, primarily doing roofing and siding. Gordy reluctantly hung up his hammer and tools after becoming ill. Gordy was a gruff and tuff individual, but deep down a kind man to his friends, family, his fish and especially his furry pets.
Gordy was pre-deceased by his partner, Alice Demers, his grandparents, David Gordon Marwick and (Maisie) Gladys Mae Brown; and his mother (Raye) Matilda Kilpatrick Forsyth, and younger brother Stephen Marwick. Gordon leaves his father, V. Ernest Marwick of Melbourne FL, sister, Corinne Cremonti and husband David of W. Springfield MA, brother Gerald Marwick and wife Lynde of Cocoa FL., sister –in-law Lynne Marwick of St. Petersburg , FL. Gordon’s children, Shawn Marwick of Brookfield, MA, Eric Marwick and wife Sujey of Atlanta, GA , Dawn Rossi of Westfield, MA. His grandchildren Alyssa, Tristan, Christian & Azriel Marwick and Jordan Rossi, also many nieces and nephews and their families. Gordon also left many good friends and will be missed by all.
The family would appreciate donations in the memory of Gordon to the YMCA of Greater Springfield, 1500 Main St, Suite 256, Springfield, MA 01115, allowing the “Y” to continue their mission serving our communities. Gordy’s brother, Steve, was blessed to be an organ recipient, and Gordy would have encouraged others to become an organ donor too.
