Helga (Kebelmann) Panagos, 81, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Helga was born on August 12, 1938, in Berlin, Germany, a daughter of Otto and Antonie (Jenek) Kebelmann. She was raised and educated in Berlin and lived in Germany throughout WW II. Helga immigrated to the United States in 1962, first arriving in Providence, RI, and later becoming a resident of Springfield in 1970. Helga was a very proud of becoming a U.S. citizen in 2000. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and was a woman with the most beautiful smile. Her children were her world and she was proud of her two sons, Raymond and George for serving in the U.S. Navy. Helga leaves behind her loving children, Carol Panagos of Detroit, MI, Raymond Panagos of Chicopee, Robert Panagos of Springfield, and George Panagos of California; sisters, Margaret Kebelmann of Delaware and Ruth Kebelmann of Germany and Herbert Kebelmann of Germany; two grandchildren, Andrew Hunter of Detroit, MI and Daniel Panagos of Springfield. Her family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers involved over the years. A graveside service will be held for Helga on Friday, June 5, at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee.
