Henry “Hank” M. Dragon, 84, beloved husband, of 49 years, of Joyce A. (Feeley) Dragon, who predeceased him on August 12, 2014, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center with his family at his side. Hank was born on September 27, 1935 in Webster, MA, to George and Bertha (Dombrowski) Dragon, he was a longtime resident of Springfield, and a graduate of Springfield Trade High School. He was employed at Rex Chain Belt, later known as Rexnord, in Springfield, as a machinist, for over 45 years. He was an avid gardener, who enjoyed tending to his tomatoes, cucumbers and flowers. Hank followed history and was very interested in WW I and WW II. He enjoyed the many family vacations to Niantic, CT, along with the bright and sunny days spent at Black Point Beach in Niantic. Hank was very mechanically inclined and loved to tinker with boats and cars. He was a loving, compassionate, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. When his wife, Joyce, became ill, he dedicated every day to be with her, until her passing 5 years later. Hank is survived by his loving children, Robert E. Rochford of East Longmeadow, Gail A. Goodenow and her husband, John E. of West Springfield, Timothy M. Rochford and his wife, Sevgi, of Catonsville, MD, Peter J. Rochford of Hampden, Christopher M. Dragon and his wife, Tamara, of Wilbraham, David E. Dragon and his wife, Carol, of Springfield, and Susan M. Dragon and her husband, Frank Zakrzewski, of Enfield, CT; 13 cherished grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Richard T. Rochford and brother, Raymond Dragon. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, September 10, for calling hours for Henry, from 4-7 p.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue. Henry’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 11, beginning at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108. Burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield.
