It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Laura (Lacroix) Landry, 93, of Springfield MA. She was born in Springfield, MA, on March 11, 1926 to Joseph and Diana (Goupil) Lacroix, she was a graduate of Cathedral High School and a lifelong resident of Springfield. She married the love of her life, Jean Paul Landry, who predeceased her on February 17, 2018, and they enjoyed almost 68 years together. She leaves three loving sons and their spouses, Richard and his wife Jill of West Holyoke, Gerard and his wife Karen of Worthington and Michael and his wife Tina of Worcester; 9 grandchildren, Melissa and Laurie Landry, Carrie Robbins, Scott, Forrest, Tiffany Landry, Douglas Noel, Jessie Noel, and Dalton Noel and 6 great grandchildren, Ethan and Lucas Robbins, Patrick Merryman, Jason and Ryan Kruckas, and Collins Noel. Irene worked for several years at the MacDuffie School in the food service department and later in the food service department at Springfield College, before retiring in 1987. She was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Springfield and a current parishioner of Holy Name Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Canasta, shopping, baking, and many trips to the casinos, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Irene will truly be missed for her love and kindness that she expressed to all her family, friends and many acquaintances. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, Feb. 23, for calling hours for Irene from 3–5 p.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue. Irene’ s Funeral will be held on Monday, Feb.24, beginning at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108. Committal prayers and burial will follow immediately after the Mass at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
