James W. Cavanaugh, 67, beloved brother and longtime resident of Agawam & Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 1, after a long illness. James was born on November 5, 1949, in Springfield, MA; he was a beloved son of Joseph T and Claire M Cavanaugh. James was employed as a Pharmacist Technician for seventeen years at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Prior to Baystate Medical Center, he worked at the Springfield Science Museum. As a young man, James always loved the outdoors. He was a naturalist and a birdwatcher at heart. James was an active member of the Allen Bird Club, the Naturalist Club, and longtime member of the Audubon Society. He was a very knowledgeable and intelligent person, who had a voracious appetite for reading. James will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind his loving siblings, Ann Cameron of Dracut, MA, William J. Cavanaugh of Easthampton, and Ruth Stathis of Southwick. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers in law, Donald Cameron & Angelo Stathis. Per his own request, there are no calling hours and a private service will be held for him at a later date. The family would like to thank James’s caregivers at JGS lifecare in Longmeadow, MA.
