James Joseph Footit, 56, of Ludlow. Beloved husband of Cathrine (Sowa) Footit, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, after fighting the coronavirus. Jim was born on October 1, 1963, in Springfield, MA, He was the son of Richard J. and Joan C. (Roy) Footit. He graduated from Cathedral High School in1982 and received his Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from Springfield Technical Community College. After many years at Noble Express Urgent Care in Westfield, he was employed most recently at Family Medical Center in Springfield. Jim loved spending time with his family at "the cottage" on Lake Damon in Chesterfield, as well as summers on Cape Cod. Some of Jim's favorite activities included biking, swimming, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, ping-pong, backgammon, and fall foliage car rides. From a young age, Jim was a gifted pianist and loved playing songs such as 'Clair de Lune' for his family and friends at holiday gatherings. He had a love for music, attending many Bluegrass Festivals and Tanglewood concerts, including his favorite James Taylor. Jim shared a passion for travel with his wife, Cathrine, and treasured his memorable trips across New England with his daughters.  He was also a dedicated fan of the Boston Bruins and Red Sox. He was a member of the Men's Prayer Group of St. Mary's and All Saint Parish of Ware. Jim was known as one of the most accepting, dependable, ebullient, and loving individuals. Above all, Jim loved spending his quality time with his daughters, Anna and Olivia, his wife, Cathrine, family, and friends. Jim leaves his loving wife Cathrine of Ludlow, daughters, Anna Grace of Holyoke and Olivia Joan of South Hadley, and step-son Christopher Musselman and fiancé, Julianna Iwasinski, of Charleston, South Carolina; beloved mother Joan of Longmeadow and mother-in-law, Joanne Sowa of Wilbraham; brother in law, Scott Sowa of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and siblings, Elaine Howes and partner Don Mientka, Rosemary Lanigan and her husband, William, Patricia Real and her husband, John, William Footit and his wife, Faith, Mary Gentile and her husband, John, John Footit and his wife, Gina, and Paul Footit and his wife, Barbara; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Allison Mary and his father, Richard J. Footit. Jim's smile, kindness, and positive outlook was contagious and will truly be missed by anyone who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at St. Cecilia Parish in Wilbraham, MA. Donations in James's honor may be donated to the James Footit Memorable Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made payable to 'STCC Foundation, Inc." with a note in the memo line that the gift is in memory of James Footit.
