It is with great love and sadness, that the family of Jean (Bates) Falk, 96, announces her passing November 24, 2020 at Chestnut Hill Nursing home of East Longmeadow, MA. Born in Springfield, MA, April 19, 1924, she was a lifelong resident of East Longmeadow. She was the daughter of the late, Wilson and Ruth Bates. She attended Springfield schools, graduating from the High School of Commerce. She worked as an executive secretary complimenting the daily operations of local companies such as Westinghouse, Dale Carnegie, and the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Jean was a woman of the arts. She cherished traveling in the United States and abroad, with her niece, Lisa Plante. She loved cross word puzzles, knitting, bowling, golf, gardening and her loving cat, Harriett. When not enjoying her hobbies, she loved cooking and making her famous cinnamon twists. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edwin A. Falk, whom she married on May 13, 1951 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Longmeadow, MA, also by her sister, Shirley Plante and brother, Paul Bates and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Falk. She is survived by her brother, Donald Bates and his wife, Jean of Myrtle Beach, SC. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Brian A. Falk and his fiancée, Margaret Byrne, of East Longmeadow, MA and Jeffrey P. Falk of Bel Aire, KS. Her granddaughters, Kimberly Falk and her husband, Jay of Canton, ME, and Jennifer Falk of East Longmeadow, MA, and her great granddaughters, Megan and Christina Falk and her great grandson, Aaron Williams. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, December 7, 2020, for a period of visitation for Jean from 10 – 11 a.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue, followed by a service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Committal prayers and burial will follow immediately after the service at Billings Hill Cemetery in East Longmeadow.
