It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Paul Landry, 92, of Springfield MA. He was born in Springfield, MA, in November, 1925 to Pearl Landry. He was a caring brother to Jeannette Lappie until her passing in 2006. Jean served his Country honorably in the US Navy, during WW II. He married the love of his life, Irene Lacroix and they enjoyed almost 68 years together. He leaves three sons: Richard and his wife Jill of West Holyoke, Gerard and his wife Karen of Worthington and Michael and his wife Tina of Worcester; 6 grandchildren, Melissa and Laurie Landry, Carrie Robbins, Scott, Forrest, and Tiffany Landry and 5 great grandchildren, Ethan and Lucas Robbins, Patrick Merryman, Jason and Ryan Kruckas. Jean retired after 46 years as a supervisor from H.P. Hoods Ice Cream Plant and also worked part time at Hafey Funeral Home, among the many jobs he held over the years. He was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Springfield and a current parishioner of Holy Name Church. His special interests were card playing, golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting. He was also the All Time Handyman, adding his expertise to any of his son's projects. But, his passion was spending time with his family. He will truly be missed for his love and kindness to all his family, friends and many acquaintances. The family sends sincere thanks to his Home Health Aide Becky and wishes to thank the entire staff at Reeds Landing/Springfield for their exceptional care of Jean and their unending support and kindness to the family. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, Feb. 21, for calling hours for Jean from 4–7 p.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue.
