Kenneth Leonard Dolder

January 23, 1938 ~ July 30, 2020 (age 82)

Kenneth Dolder of Springfield MA passed away on July 29, 2020 at the age of 82. After a month long battle with lung cancer, Ken was made comfortable at home by his wife Janet (Nealon), his son Craig of Southampton, UK and the tender care of the Overlook Visiting Nurse Association Hospice team. Ken was born in Romford, Essex, England to Henry and Phyllis (Wiltshire) Dolder, and moved to the USA in 1968 with his first wife Susan Whitefield and their sons Graham and Nigel Dolder. In 1983 he married Janet, and they raised Gillian Hodgen and Craig Dolder. Throughout his life Ken was very proud of his children. He rose to a sales management position at Simplex-Grinnell, retiring shortly after it was merged into Tyco International. Ken enjoyed model trains, having a garden scale train that at one time graced Janet’s garden. Later on he built an impressive HO scale layout inside.

Ken and Janet moved to Springfield in 2006 after spending nearly 20 years in Ashburnham MA.

Ken served on the Advisory Board for the Town of Ashburnham, was a member of the Ashburnham Lions’ Club and an avid supporter and fan of the Oakmont Marching Spartans.

A private memorial for Ken will take place at a time when family members can feel free to share their love and sympathy without reservation.

Kenneth Leonard Dolder was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Phyllis and his sister Elaine. He is survived by his brother John, his wife Carol and brother Stephen, son Nigel, his wife Alison, Son Graham, wife Julie, step daughter, Gillian Hodgen and her husband, Erik Paulsen. He is grandfather to Nicholas Dolder (deceased) Carley Dolder, Justin Dolder, and Soren Paulson and great-grandfather to Ava Dolder.
