Kevin Michael Murphy, 76, lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Kevin was born on May 5, 1944, in Springfield, MA, he was a beloved son of John F. and Kathleen (McCaffrey) Murphy. Kevin graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, in 1963. He began his career as a salesman for Sears & Roebuck in West Springfield, later transitioning his career to a vending route man at ARA Vending Services in Windsor Locks, CT, and most recently was a security guard at Hallmark Cards Distribution Plant/ Warehouse in Enfield, CT, for over 23 years. In his younger years, Kevin was an avid bowler at many of the local lanes in the Springfield area. He was a parishioner at Holy Name Church in Springfield. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, John and Kathleen, brothers, John and Robert Murphy. He is survived by his cousins, Maureen Julian and her husband, Bill, of Longmeadow, Jane O’Leary and her husband, John, of Richmond, MA, and Webster McCaffrey of Annapolis, MD; other extended family members; and several close friends. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, September 19, at 10 a.m. for Kevin’s Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield; followed by committal prayers and burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield.
