Marcia Ann (Varney) Scagliarini, 79, of Springfield passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis on September 28, 2020. Born on January 21, 1941 in Springfield, she was the daughter of Marshall and Pauline (Tremblay) Varney. She attended Holy Name Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1958. Marcia married the love of her life, Fred P. Scagliarini, in 1961, and they shared 58 wonderful years together. Marcia was a joy to all she met, the life of the party and an avid shopper. She had an eye for fashion, make-up, and anything that had a sparkle. She was an active member of the Holy Name Parish as a Eucharistic minister, Lector and confirmation coordinator. She was also an active member of the Cursillo community, of which she had many cherished friends. It brought her great pleasure to decorate and host any holiday, but most especially Christmas, as this was the holiday that brought Marcia the most joy. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Scagliarini, her three children, Thomas Scagliarini and his spouse, Donna Scagliarini, Steven Scagliarini, and Stacy (Scagliarini) Scipione, her seven grandchildren, David, his spouse, Ashley, Matthew, his spouse, Stephanie, Mia, Sara, Emily, Jack, and Tessa, and by her three great grandchildren, Gia, Connor, and Bryce; two brothers, Richard Varney of Monson, and Dennis Varney and his spouse, Marilyn, of Greenland, NH, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 3, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108, for Marcia’s Mass of Christian Burial.
