Margaret “Peg” Teresa (Flanagan) Morgan, beloved wife of 58 years to George R. Morgan who predeceased her in January of 2010, passed away on Sunday, February 17, at Baystate Medical Center at the age of 88. Born on June 13, 1930 in Springfield, daughter of John and Gertrude Mary (Barrett) Flanagan, she was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a 1948 graduate of Cathedral High School. Peg along with her husband and family resided on Bryant Street at the X in Springfield for many years and together they shared many memories of family gatherings and annual camping trips to the Cape and New Hampshire. She was a parishioner at Holy Name Church in Springfield. Peg was a loving and caring person, who had a great gift at helping others solve their own personal problems. She leaves behind her four loving daughters, Ann Ahearn and her husband, Jim of Westfield, Pati Morgan of Sturbridge, Mary Sienkiewicz and her husband, Charlie of Feeding Hills, and Peg Henderson and her husband, Scott of Auburn; her cherished grandchildren, Jim & Ann, Brian, Jeff, Kimmi, and Nikki & Jamie, Danielle & Michael, Adam and Garrett; and her great grandson, Kamu Ahearn and great granddaughter, Malia Ahearn; her cousins and many nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to her many caregivers, for their kind and compassionate care. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, Feb. 23, for Margaret’s funeral, beginning at 9 a.m. from Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield. Committal prayers and burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling Hours for Margaret will be held on Friday, Feb. 22 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
