Martin Laurence McKreith, 67, passed away on January 22, 2020, in Kingston, Jamaica.
Martin was born on June 10, 1952, in Kingston, Jamaica, a son of Ivy Samuels and step father, Theodore Samuels, he was raised and educated in Kingston, Jamaica, prior to migrating with his family to the United States as a teenager.
Martin graduated from Technical High School in Springfield, before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving his country honorably at Ft. Ord, in California. Upon leaving the Army, he relocated to California and owned and operated his own Tractor Trailer Driving business.
He was very easing going and was able to get along with everyone.
Martin was kind, compassionate and giving. He was very loyal to his family, especially to his siblings.
Martin was a flashy dresser who always made sure his outfits matched and spared no expense on them. He could brighten up a room just by being there.
He leaves behind his loving mother, Ivy Samuel, sisters, Barbara Finegan and Alice Thomas; brother Michael McKreith; children, Corey Jackson of Springfield, Maurice Barnett and his wife, Talisha of Marina, CA, Latoya McKreith of Springfield, and Nehemiah Barnett and his wife, Jasmine of Waterbury, CT; 15 grandchildren; former wife, Jennifer McKreith of Springfield and longtime companion, Linda Barnett of Seaside, CA; numerous aunts and uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA 01109, has been postponed. As well as the burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield. www.hafeyfuneralservice.com
