Michael George Patsouris, passed away on Monday, February 25, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield at the age of 67, surrounded by his family. Born in Springfield on August 21, 1951, he was the beloved son of George and Aspasia (Galanakis) Patsouris. Raised and educated in Springfield, he was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and later a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Michael was a brilliant student. He excelled in mathematics and physics and was an avid reader. Michael was currently writing a thesis on physics and religion and he loved his family deeply. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Baystate Medical Center, the ER and the ICU Units for all their compassionate care for Michael. He leaves behind many loving cousins, John Pappas and his wife, Elizabeth Liza Pappas of Springfield, Chris Kapassakis and her husband, Gus and Effie Kapassakis-Marx and her husband, Bruce all of Long Island, NY, Peter, Jennifer, Ally & Olivia Kapasakis of Newport SC, Vassilios Pappas of Las Vegas, George Pappas and his wife, Kaylin of Knoxville, Tennessee, Anna Pappas-Rogers and husband Wayne of Las Vegas, Eleni Katakis and her husband, Michael of Sunnyvale, NY, Ted Pappas and wife Tara of Springfield, Nikolaos and Maria Galanakis of Chania, Crete, Anthoula and Antonios Galanakis of Chania Crete.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in United States and Greece. Michael will lie in state on Monday March 4th at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Rd., Springfield, MA 01104, from 9:30 – 11:00 am., with a Mass to follow in the Cathedral. Burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s name may be made to Minos Crete Association Scholarship Fund 35 Carew St Springfield MA 01103.
