Michael Wayne Simmons, 29, beloved son of Patrick W. and Theresa K. (Barrett) Simmons, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center in the comfort of his family being at his side. Michael was born on June 10, 1991, in Springfield, MA, he was raised and educated in Longmeadow and was a graduate of Longmeadow High School, before residing in Enfield. Michael was employed as a landscaper for several years with Haramut Landscaping of Longmeadow. He was also known by those who were close to him as a helper. A man that you would go to if you needed something to be fixed or constructed. Michael was a strong advocate against addiction and was an educator on drug awareness. He was asked regularly to speak at several forums to help those who were struggling. He had many passions and interests that ranged from riding his motorcycle to working out at the gym. Michael loved the outdoors and had many fond memories of camping and going to the beach. He also enjoyed the solitude of his metal detector and roaming the earth in search of hidden treasure. Michael leaves behind his parents, Patrick and Theresa of Enfield, his siblings, Tanya Schultz and her husband, Nathan of Michigan, Christine Reynolds Simmons and her fiancé, Dennis of Enfield, Lisa Bowman and her husband, Ken of Washington, Brandon Dasso Simmons and his wife, Isabella of Agawam, Tommy Simmons and Ashley Simmons and her boyfriend, Mike all of Enfield; 4 nieces and nephews, Damian, Amani, Dominick, and Bjourn; and several aunts and uncles, including Kenneth Barrett of Enfield. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce P. Simmons in December of 2015. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 9, for a period of visitation for Michael from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Avenue. Burial will be private.
