Patricia A. (Leone) Flaherty of Springfield, MA and Tamarack, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at University Hospital Medical Center, Tamarack, FL, having contracted the Corona virus. She was born and raised in Springfield, MA, a daughter of Frank and Laura (Grossi) Leone. Patricia was a graduate of the High School of Commerce and later worked as a Legal Secretary with the law firm of Matroni, Dimauro, Conner and Coyle. After attending and graduating from court reporting school, she opened her own business, Flaherty Court Reporting in Springfield, MA and worked as an Official Court Reporter for the Hampden Superior Court, retiring, in 2015. Patricia dedicated her retirement to caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Frank and Laura, she was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Karen (Flaherty) LaPlant. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Timothy Flaherty, Redondo Beach, CA, grandchildren, Anthony LaPlant, Tamarack, FL, and Heather (Flaherty) Abercrombie, Avon, IN, great grandchildren, Anthony, Wyatt, Jack and Samuel. She is also survived by her sister, Johanne (Raymond) Marois, Pinehurst, NC, one niece and three nephews. Family, friends and colleagues are invited to meet on Saturday, September 5, at 11:00am, for Patricia’s Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Michael’s Cathedral, 260 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Due to covid concerns there will be no wake and both services will be filmed and accessed live at Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/96000340408. The services will also be recorded for later viewing and condolences. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. www.hafeyfuneralservice.com
