Paul Eugene Patoine

August 14, 1927 ~ August 13, 2018 (age 90)

Agawam – Paul Eugene Patoine, 90, of Agawam, passed away peacefully on Monday August 13, 2018 a day before his 91st birthday. He was born in Honfleur-Bellechasse, Canada on August 14, 1927, one of seventeen children of the late Joseph and Rose-Anna (Brochu) Patoine. Paul worked as a Carpenter throughout his career and was a 50+ year member of the Local #108 Carpenter’s Union in Springfield. He was instrumental on the construction of the Cyclone roller coaster at the former Riverside Park in Agawam, the sole builder of the clock tower at the East Longmeadow Rotary and also restored many beautiful homes in Longmeadow over the years. Paul was a longtime member of the former St. Joseph Parish in Springfield. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Fredonia “Rachel” (Breton) Patoine in 2004. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Denise Mason and her significant other, Donald J. Jerold of Agawam; his brother, Maurice of Oregon; his sister, Olivette of Quebec and by his two grandchildren, Michael J. Mason and Jocelyn M. Mason.  Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Wednesday August 15th from 10 – 11 AM at the Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield with a service at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial donations may be made in Pauls’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to Heritage Hall West Nursing Home, 61 Cooper St., Agawam, MA 01001.
