Robert Balloch Johnson, 75, beloved husband of Alice M. (Johnson) Johnson who predeceased him in 2012, passed away on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. Robert was born on October 12, 1945, in New Bedford, MA, a son of Frederick C. and Elizabeth (McEwan) Johnson. He was raised and educated in New Bedford. Robert served his country honorably as an SN in the U.S. Navy, during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime resident of Springfield, before most recently residing in West Springfield. Robert began his career as a machinist with Storm Drop Forge in Springfield and later was employed at Milton Bradley as security guard and was still currently working for the company under Hasbro and currently now known as Cartamundi. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Chicopee. Robert leaves behind his loving son, Marc Johnson and his wife, Janet, of Littleton, CO; his granddaughters, Sarah, Emily, and Katie Johnson all of Colorado, and Rhiannon Johnson of Chicopee, and nieces, Christine and Kim Johnson, Michele Ponsart, and Linda Schuster and two nephews, Richard and Michael Ponsart. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his beloved sons, Charles M. and Matthew B. Johnson, brothers, Paul and William Johnson, and sister, Barbara Ponsart. Family and friends are invited to gather directly on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. for Robert’s committal service with military honors in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
