Stanley P. Padykula

August 14, 1925 ~ May 2, 2018 (age 92)

Stanley P. Padykula, beloved husband, of 46 years, to Margaret A. (Sullivan) Padykula, who predeceased him on May 3, 2006, passed away peacefully at his residence at the Orchards of Wilbraham on Wednesday, May 2, at the age of 92. Born on August 14, 1925, in Springfield, MA, son of Stanley and Pauline (Peltz) Padykula, he was raised and educated in Chicopee and was a longtime resident of Ellsworth Ave., in Springfield. Stanley graduated from Chicopee Trade High School and later worked for the Springfield Armory. He served his country honorably in the South Pacific as an Airman in the U.S. Navy, during WW II. After the war, Stanley continued to serve in the Navy before being honorably discharged in 1948. He returned to Springfield and resumed his job at the Armory. During this time, Stanley attended and graduated from AIC with a bachelor’s degree in Business. He began a long fulfilling career, of over twenty years, as a teacher of History and Civics at Chicopee High School and later received his master’s in Education from Springfield College. Stanley was a considerate man, who was comfortable in his own solace. Stanley enjoyed watching and feeding the many varieties of birds that accumulated in his yard. He is survived by his brothers in law, James Ryan of Wilbraham and Ernest Ouimette of Holyoke; beloved God daughter, Alice Napolitan of West Springfield; many nieces and nephews, David, Anne Marie and Philip Ouimette, Robert Sullivan and Jean Smith, Paul, Tim, and John Ryan and Mary Ryan Sullivan; several grandnieces and grandnephews, Nicole and Shawn Ouimette, Allie and Sam Ryan, and Jack and Michael Sullivan; cousins, Cynthia Magelinski and Cecelia Swizcz. A private visitation and funeral service will be held for Stanley at Hafey Funeral Home with committal prayers and military honors to follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
