Sylvia Ann (Carmel) Redin, 85, beloved wife, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, home. Born November 3, 1934 in East Longmeadow, MA, a daughter of Ovide and Marie (LaFleche) Carmel, she was a longtime resident of East Longmeadow. She was the beloved wife of Frederick Clifford Redin who passed away in 2008. Sylvia worked at Mass Mutual for 10 years as a department mail clerk, before retiring in 1995. She was a former parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow. Sylvia leaves behind her loving daughters, Debra Murphy of East Longmeadow, Dr. John Murphy of Knoxville, TN, and Sandra Pixley and her partner, Charles Bliss of Monson; siblings, Francis Carmel and his wife, Rosalie of Agawam, Claire Redin of Boca Raton, FL, and Jeanne Peterson of Easthampton; her cherished grandchildren, Heather Murphy, Justin Murphy, Jason Pixley and Jeremy Pixley; and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard Carmel and John “Harry” Carmel. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 8, for a period of visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Ave., followed by a service at 11:30 AM in the funeral home.
