William F. Egan
1934 – 2018
East Longmeadow – William F. Egan, 84, of East Longmeadow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at Wingate at Springfield. Born in Springfield to the late Daniel F. and Margaret (O’Brien) Egan, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army and went on to graduate from American International College. Throughout his career, Bill was employed with Equifax Credit Company as an Insurance Investigator, retiring after 30 years of service. Bill was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow and was a kind and compassionate person who loved his family dearly. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn C. (Burke) in 1996; his son, Stephen E. Fairbanks in 2014; and his brother-in-law, John J. Burke in 1987. Bill is survived by his loving daughter, Sharon M. McLean and her husband, James of East Longmeadow; four grandchildren, Daniel and Patrick McLean of East Longmeadow, Melissa Fairbanks and her wife, Sarah Richard and Briana Fairbanks, all of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Kathy Burke of Sandwich, MA; nephew and nieces, John J. Burke, Jr. of Sandwich, Christine Burke of Quincy, MA, Debra Burke of London, England and Erin Burke, of New York City and by very dear cousins, William and Maureen Julian of Longmeadow. Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hour on Saturday December 22nd from 9 – 10 AM at the Hafey Springfield Chapels, 494 Belmont Ave., followed by a 10 AM service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
